A Conference Not Just for Parents
Parenting is hard. It may be the most difficult thing I have ever done. I love my children. They are truly a blessing from the Lord. But let’s be honest, children can be rebellious, selfish, strong-willed, and wearisome—especially if you are sleep deprived from getting up with your little ones during the middle of the night. Have you ever tried to take your kids to do something fun, like going to get ice cream or go to the zoo, and they throw a fit for seemingly no reason? I have had this happen on more than one occasion. Sadly, in those moments I have wanted the presidential nuclear codes to start World War III with my sweet, but sinful, children. I have tried warnings, timeouts, raising my voice, and discipline. Unfortunately, many times as my children sinned, I’ve sinned too. I have had to go to Jesus and to my children to ask their forgiveness. Is there a better way of parenting, that helps our children grow in spiritual and social maturity, while keeping their dignity and our sanity intact? I believe there is!
I am thrilled that the mother-daughter team Elyse Fitzpatrick and Jessica Thompson, world-renown authors of the book “Give Them Grace: Dazzling Your Kids with the Love of Jesus” will be teaching a one-day parenting conference at North Church. My wife and I attended Elyse and Jessica’s parenting conference a few years ago, and it was incredibly encouraging, informative, helpful, and inspiring. Even though parenting can be hard, Elyse and Jessica promise what they share will be “No fluff. No bricks. Just Good News!”
I encourage parents, grandparents, and those who work with kids at schools or in Sunday school to attend this conference. If you are not a parent or teacher, but are someone’s son or daughter, I encourage you to attend this conference. All of us have grown up with imperfect parents. Some of us have suffered painful experiences with our parents. Elyse and Jessica's teaching will be saturated with the goodness of God’s lavish grace in the Gospel, and the effects this has on our identity in Christ. So, this conference is for everyone. Make plans to attend. You won’t be disappointed! You can register here.
P.S. Tune in to 107.1 FM on Monday October 3rd at 1pm, to hear a radio interview with Elyse Fitzpatrick, Jessica Thomson and Pastor Daniel Schuman as they discuss the upcoming Give Them Grace Conference at North.
