Love the City Ministry Fair

What is mercy in the context of our churches’ mercy ministry? It is simply helping others with the gifts God has given us. Often times it is loving, giving, serving and providing for those in our church, neighborhoods and city who are less fortunate than us, or providing for the needs of those around us when times are tough. In the words of Jesus

For I was hungry and you gave me food, I was thirsty and you gave me drink, I was a stranger and you welcomed me, I was naked and you clothed me, I was sick and you visited me, I was in prison and you came to me.’ Then the righteous will answer him, saying, ‘Lord, when did we see you hungry and feed you, or thirsty and give you drink? And when did we see you a stranger and welcome you, or naked and clothe you? And when did we see you sick or in prison and visit you?’ And the King will answer them, ‘Truly, I say to you, as you did it to one of the least of these my brothers, you did it to me.’  (Mathew 25:35-40)

As our mercy ministry builds momentum in 2017, we will be focusing our efforts in three ways:

Serve the Neighborhood, Serve the Schools and Serve the City
We will serve the neighborhood around our church by providing food, clothes, household goods and access to public transportation in the form of bus passes to those in need. We want each of our Gospel Community Groups to “adopt” and serve the elementary school in their area of town, and we will providing the handles for the people of North to grab ahold of and get involved with existing ministries currently serving Albuquerque.

On February 12th, the Sunday before Valentine’s Day, we will be having our 1st Love the City Ministry Fair in the foyer. After each service there will be representatives from various ministries ready to answer questions about how their activities are working to meet the needs of our city and how you can get involved. We are very excited to see how Jesus will be working in and through our church being a living, active expression of His love to those in need around us.
