IF Conference: Q&A With Past Attendee
The IF Conference will be taking place here at North Church on March 3 & 4, 2017. This conference will gather women from many church communities, all over Albuquerque. The speakers will be diving into scripture to examine one of the most influential generations—the early church. The model the early church presents will allow the attendees to see the power of God as he does big things through simple acts of faith. The goal of this gathering is to live unified, surrendered to God, not just in mind and in theology, but also in daily lives. The hope is that we would participate with the Spirit of God and see Him go forth in our generation in a most powerful way.
We recently asked Crina Floruta about her past experience with IF and she graciously shared some insights with us in the hope that it would encourage you to think about attending this year.
You attended a previous IF Conference. Did you have any hesitations or reservations about going?
No hesitations about the conference or value, just was a bit reluctant to commit the time as I work every day of the week/weekend and it extended my weekend work hours but I do have to say that it was worth it!
What were your expectations of the conference? Were they met?
Overall, they were. I wanted to partake in an experience where I am around other women and we all agree on one thing, in this case Jesus. I very much focus and dwell on reflecting Christ to others and it was a nice reminder that Jesus does the work, we can all do better, and we all are ok with that. I remember the speakers being passionate and genuine.
What were the other attendees like? Similar to you? Different than you?
I would say overall similar and different, which makes the conference great. I came to faith a lot later in life, which is a difference I recognized from a lot of women I talked to. Another major difference is my stage of life and the kind of career I am working toward. But the major similarity is we all wanted a chance to grow in female community band awareness of how Christ is working in our lives.
What was the most encouraging thing about attending the IF Conference?
Being around women of all different backgrounds, both strangers and friends, and still being able to relate and encourage one another. It's a great opportunity for witnessing women humbling themselves, being vulnerable and speaking boldly. A lot of times we are quiet when we shouldn't be, fearing that we say the wrong thing or will cause the wrong reaction. But that is ridiculous. Women are gifted with the ability to both speak and reflect emotion and we should encourage each other to do more of this.
If you knew someone who was on the fence about attending, what would be your encouragement to her?
Whether your preconceptions are positive or negative, you will be surprised and grow through conversations. It's engaging so even though it seems long it doesn't feel like it. Even if you aren't "feeling up to it,” you should go.
